Lymphedema refers to swelling that occurs most often in the arms or legs due to a blockage in the lymph system that prevents the proper drainage of lymph fluid. It is estimated that as many as 49% of women will develop secondary lymphedema following breast cancer surgery. Anyone who has had lymph nodes removed or lymphedema will benefit from the material presented in this class. Learn more about the lymphatic system, prevention of lymphedema, use of compression, basic self-massage, skin care and when to seek professional treatment related to lymphedema. Dr. Nelson is an expert in the field of lymphedema therapy. She is the co-founder of Therapy Solutions in Kennewick.
